This is a interesting and fun trip for families and singel travelers alike.

Wildlife & Nature
Strong tidal currents push nutrient rich waters through this area making it an extremely productive area for sea life. As a result, we see plenty of marine wildlife as we paddle these waters. We even see the occasional Orca or Humpback passing through the channels around Quadra Island! The main objective on this trip is to view the wildlife, flora and fauna. So, bring your camera, your binoculars and your journal to record your sightings, even a magnifying glass. You will have the opportunity for dawn and dusk paddles, the best times for seeing animals in their natural habitat. Explore tide pools and shore lines and find a cornucopia of sea life. Listen for the eagles and learn to scope the tree tops for their nests. Turn a rock over and watch the crabs scramble. Peer in the shallow waters and see the moon jellies move effortlessly through the water. How long does it take for a bull kelp to grow? What is a sea cucumber? It’s all yours to discover!
Rich With History
Home to the Kwaikiutl First Nations for thousands of years, and in recent centuries also to European settlers, the islands are a culturally diverse kaleidoscope of discovery. We will also learn about local First Nations history and visit some ancient sites along the way.
In the late 1700‘s, Captain George Vancouver, achieved his goal to make detailed charts of the islands he circumnavigated in the Pacific Northwest. The Discovery Islands were finally ‘put on the map’ and this made it possible for generations of adventurers, soul-seekers and homesteaders to ply their waters and lay foot on their lands. As those who have gone before us, we will seek out and find a spectacular array of wildlife at every corner we turn.
Adventure
We will relax at great camp sites, take interesting hikes and swim in freshwater lakes on this expedition. You'll see the rushing tidal waters that reverse direction every six hoursor so, from a rushing torrent going North to the same going South hours later. Of course, we'll enjoy delicious food, campfires and good times. This is a great trip for all those who like to explore. Suitable for beginners and expert alike.
