| | | Sea Kayaking Lake Superior, Ontario Tour Details
The adventure begins at the now deserted Gargantua Harbour, a port once busy enough to warrant a lighthouse in 1889. This area has been used for thousands of years, by fishermen, the Ojibwa and the Voyageurs on their fur trade route. Home to many Native heritage sites, the history and culture is ours to discover. When the sea is calm, we can see 60 feet down into it's mysterious, haunting blue waters. We'll visit the Columbus, a boat at rest 15 feet deep in t he Gargantua Harbour, sunk after catching fire.
As our paddles ply the cool, clear waters, the wild shoreline of Lake Superior offers many wildlife viewing opportunities. Moose, White-tailed Deer (a treat to see as their numbers are limited due to severe winter conditions), Bears, Red Foxes, Canada Lynx, Timber Wolves, Martens, Beavers, Otters and Red Squirrels make the park their home. Great Blue Herons, Loons, Gulls, and Warblers are commonly seen. Woodland Caribou and the Peregrine Falcon can also be seen here. We'll enjoy delicious meals, incredible campsites, some of the best paddling in the world and at the end of our journey we'll reluctantly part, having made new friends and precious memories to last forever. A journey that inspires you to be at one with nature. The trip of a lifetime that you won't want to miss. Join us, and renew your soul!
