Day
1
To begin your canoeing vacation
on Quadra Island we gather at
our outfitting base early in the morning. Then we
make our short drive to our departure point where your
professional guide/s explains packing and preparation details.
After packing your gear for the trip your guide then gives
instruction on paddling techniques and safety. You board your
canoe and begin your adventure. After exploring Quadra's Main
Lake
secluded shoreline and possibly making a portage we find
ourselves at our first pristine wilderness campsite. Your
guide/s explains the nuances of setting up tents, how to choose
a site etc., and you're off to choose your very own tent
site.
Shortly after that your guide/s announces dinner and you sit
down for a delicious wilderness meal that has earned Out For
Adventure its esteemed reputation for fine backcountry cuisine.
Be sure to save space for desert. The evening brings out stars
by the millions! Away from the city lights you will be dazzled
with twinkling stars as you sit around your campfire swapping
stories. The campsites are a integral part of the whole
wilderness experience, and Quadra Island's Main Lake is home to some of the
best camp sites in British Columbia.

Day
2
For coffee lovers it will be the aroma of fresh coffee brewing
that greets your day, or for others it will be the smell of
breakfast or perhaps the call of the loon across the misty
morning lake. For those interested in seeing wildlife, your
guide will suggest an early morning paddle as a great
opportunity since most animals at active at this time of day.
Mornings are easy going as we enjoy breakfast and conversation
while watching the morning unfold in the wilderness of British
Columbia. We pack our gear, load the canoes and we are off on
another day of exploration, taking time to enjoy the sites,
possibly seeing an eagle or some other wildlife. Always
stopping to enjoy a swim or break we
slow from our regular day to day pace and begin to fall into a
different rhythm. So subtle it comes on almost without notice,
we begin to move with the rhythm of nature, relaxed, and attuned
to our surroundings as one can only be on a wilderness canoe
trip. Our day evolves with our groups desires tempered with our
travel plans and includes shore lunch and breaks. Eventually we find ourselves
making the magnificent and rather short portage from the fresh
water lakes of Quadra Island to the ocean waters between Quadra
Island and Maurelle Island. Arriving at another incredible camp
site surrounded by Mountains, fresh air and of course a picture
perfect view. Just sitting on the shore of your campsite
enjoying the stillness of the protected ocean passage one can be
transformed into the beauty of the wild places we visit.

Days
3-4
Here
we explore the Archipelagos of Surge Narrows Marine Park or
Octopus Islands Marine Park. Our explorations will lead us to
short hikes or shore line stops to investigate water falls,
native cultural sites or abandon home stead along the way. Being
on the ocean now, we may encounter seals, sea lions, porpoises,
river otters, Eagles and on rare occasion even whales. Our camp
sites are stunning little sites, some of which are situated
right beside tidal rapids so we can enjoy the change of the tide
while sipping hot chocolate around our camp fire. This is an
area perfectly suited to canoe travel, just as the natives had
done here in the past.
