We literally step out of the forest and onto a rocky ledge that open up to a breathtaking vista, as well as a view of the Robson Bight Ecological Reserve. From this perch we can see for miles and often spot Killer Whales from here as well. |

Our gear is quickly loaded into our shuttle van and we are off for a scenic drive through North Vancouver Islands lush temperate rain forest to Telegraph Cove. Telegraph Cove is where we meet our water taxi that will give us a short marine tour on route to our first campsite. You are now in Orca territory, Johnstone Strait - home of the Northern Resident Killer Whales or Orcas. Often our camp site are set where the Orcas pass by increasing the thrill of wild Orcas or Killer Whales. Killer Whale sounds from our kayaks Included in our outfit is the latest high technology hydrophone (under water microphone) connected to an amplified speaker system that allows us to listen to the calls of the Orcas as they pass by our kayaks. The experience of listening to them as we watch them swim by heightens the experience ten fold. Wild Life in Johnstone Strait This area has plenty of wildlife. We often see Bald Eagles, Black Bears, Black Tailed Deer, Mink, River Otters, Sea Lions, Pacific White Sided Dolphins, Dalls Porpoises and more.
