Day 0: After you arrive at the resort, you will be greeted the friendly staff that will help you get settled into your cabin with a view. The sandy beach extends almost forever and is yours to explore, or just sit back and soak in the view. A group orientation will be held in the evening with your naturalist guide in the meeting area. Meals are available at the comfortable resort cafe (Day 0 dinner not included).
Day 1: Sea Kayaking in Orca territory Rise to one of the most inspirational views you have seen in your life as the ocean and mountains greet you first thing in the morning. Enjoy a continental breakfast and then meet the group ready to depart for your first full day of adventure! The group will travel by van just down the road to Telegraph Cove for the sea kayaking experience of a lifetime. Here, your guide will demonstrate kayaking basics and safety skills. Then you will paddle in to Johnstone Strait, summer home to the Northern resident Killer Whale as well as the best place in the world to view Orcas in the wild! Enjoy a shore lunch prepared by your guide and the some of the greatest opportunities available to view Orcas by sea kayak. After a day of sea kayaking, you will enjoy a walk through the famous Telegraph Cove “Bones Exhibit”, a world famous collection of marine mammal exhibits. If you have read about Killer Whales in British Columbia, then you have likely read about the picturesque Telegraph Cove and it’s unique qualities. Upon return to the resort in the evening, you will have some time to freshen up and then meet your guide and other guests to experience a traditional Salmon barbecue in the Kwakwaka'wakw way, baked on cedar sticks over an open fire. Our native hosts will prepare and serve this delicious meal. This has been a native tradition for generations and is your opportunity to get a “taste” for traditional west coast native life. Day 2: Whale Watching Tour After your continental breakfast, you will meet the guide and travel by shuttle van to meet our whale watching host for the morning. You will have the opportunity to view whales from a whale watching vessel with a renowned local outfitter that was instrumental in the birth of whale watching on the North Island. Make sure you have your camera in hand to capture those wildlife photos you will be talking about for years to come! Hundreds of people come from all around the globe to go on this whale watching tour which focuses on Orca Killer Whales, but sees so much more. Led by a professional licensed captain, crew and on board naturalist to interpret and spot wildlife along the route.
After making some great friends and having seen some wonderful things we depart. An what you are left with is Memories for Life!
